Atlanta Botanical Gardens - Gainesville
The Gainesville location is a new destination for connecting with beauty and the natural world. Complete with a visitor center, outdoor gardens, a model train garden and an amphitheater, it is a cultural center for the community hosting exciting exhibitions, events, and educational programs.
The nationally recognized collections expand the horticultural palette of Atlanta Botanical Garden. The Garden has already developed a sophisticated horticultural operation and the largest conservation nursery in the Southeast on the property. Endangered plants are propagated on the site for the conservation program.
It is open Tuesdays through Sundays and adult tickets are $8.00 . The garden is a 45 minute drive from the lodge.
Jim Gibbs traveled for 15 years covering the nation and the world viewing gardens of every style and decided that he wanted to design and build a world class garden. He spent six years looking for a suitable site with a strong source of water and beautiful mature trees covering a rolling topography. It was truly “a dream come true” when he found the most beautiful site in the nation to construct the garden. The property is 292 acres and the house and gardens include 220 acres, making it one of the nation’s largest residential estate gardens.
Located about 45 minutes from the lodge in Ball Ground, GA, it is open Tuesdays - Sundays (closed a few months in winter). Tickets are $20.
