- Things to Do
We love to entertain and our house has always been the party house. We are very active in community theatre – at the Historic Holly Theater in Dahlonega. Tim is a writer, song-writer, director and actor, and Dianne has been on stage, but very involved with the theater’s productions. We both have played in bands.
We love to travel and have visited all fifty states, most of Europe plus Japan and Korea. Staying in unique B&Bs and quaint inns are a special delight for us.
We love the Adirondack Mountains. The decor, style and history have always had an appeal and led us to be a major partner in the Great Camp: White Pine Camp near Saranac Lake, NY.
We love the challenge of being in our own business and controlling our destiny. We have owned quite a few: restaurants, antique shops, rare book stores and a bakery.
So, it was a natural progression for us to build Long Mountain Lodge in 2006, buy the Cabin on Long Mountain on an adjacent property in 2007 and add the Tree Top Room our Owner’s Lodge in 2013 to Long Mountain Lodge LLC’s offerings for get-aways and great vacations.
We combined all the amenities and attributes we liked and appreciated in the places we have visited in the construction of the Main Lodge.
So, now we have a variety of accomodations to suit guests who want a special experience. Developing a B & B with rave reviews has been very gratifying. Our family, grown children now, have always been a part of our business ventures and we are pleased that they are involved in the operation of Long Mountain Lodge. Currently, our son-in-law, Don McElliott is assistant innkeeper. Both of our daughters are involved as fill-in innkeepers when not teaching. The Cabin on Long Mountain has become a favorite family getaway. And, the Tree Top Room will offer yet another unique stay experience. We have met the most wonderful people from around the world and look forward to meeting – and entertaining many more.
And, stay tuned as we are now preparing a very unique property to add to our offerings this spring!
